Bush fire between Mount Elephant and Timboon, Eugene Von Guerard, 1857

It was the adult version of the pinup board I had as a kid. My childhood version, above the desk in my bedroom, was covered in red hessian, red for boys. I used to buy cards I liked to put on it. Artistic cards, cool cards, modern cards.

I still have most of them all, all these years later. I still have most of them all, all these years later. Scanned and stored electronically with the photos that I took at the time. Saved for whenever I want to go and look. They evoke such memories of that time back then. Of me. The colours I was seeing. All that beauty pinned up in front of me as I did my school work, or didn’t do it, as the case may have been. It is all I now have left of that time, really, when I think about it.
